gems… and more gems…

i had to include this amazing conclusion of my intermediate harp class!
initiated by the three teenagers, they shared their “gems”
of the week… their stockpile of treasures to hold them through the winter
until the next harp workshop. Island Mountain Arts has been hosting
the International Harp School for more than twenty years.
this year, there was also harmonica, ukelele and singing
offered at the same time. what a wonderful week.
… i particularly enjoy the gem: hug the octave!
harp octaves certainly appreciate lots of hugs…

harps back to the well…

the sunset theatre and our harp concert
crazy fun to play two concerts in this
small mountain town within two days!!
wednesday we played the sunset theatre
thursday at the bear’s paw cafe
and friday… was the (harp +) ceilidh!

i have journeyed to wells many times…
never tiring of the vista across the meadow
watching the sun and cloud patterns dance
across mount murray and cornish mountain.
the beetle may have changed the colourings,
but the clouds never cease to articulate
their many improvised moods and shapes.

billowing below … hovering above

… i felt the depth of quiet, the kind of quiet that holds anticipation
the airplane vibrating with the relief of engine noise.
to our right lay the whispers of night
and to our left, clouds that could host
a universe game of angel hide and seek.
while the desperately failing sun glimmered her farewell,
we progressed through a tunnel of calm
not knowing if the storm was ahead, or beyond.
