still life stillness…

silenced
leaves whirled away…
leaving lifeless limbs exposed
stillness gripping…
the bereft yearning for shelter
from the cruel light
of the full moon’s gaze.

the wind tries valiantly
to wrap herself
about the nakedness
that she herself created…
whispering enticements
of conversation
between wind and limb…
but the wind blew
the rustling voices away
swept away all of her loveliness…
but for a few willful leaves.

only a matter of time
and the wind will silence these too.
