upon further reflection…

reflections
reflective
reflecting
reflect.

light.
thoughts.

musings…
i couldn’t stop noticing… once i started…

as numerous as the footprints disturbing the sand… reflections everywhere…
it seems ridiculous… even cruel, to blame the ocean… but… the ocean did appear to be flaunting her reflections and reflective notions with abandon.
i was compelled… without apology… to take eight less than a thousand… than a THOUSAND… photographs over my two and a half days at this far westerly ocean…
or was it two and a half weeks… months maybe? i couldn’t tell anymore… i stopped feeling the regularity of twenty four hours in a day… or sixty minutes in an hour… an hour could have been a day for all i knew or felt…
did i step onto some kind of altered universe where time expanded and contracted as irregularly as the bellows of an accordion?…
and every step i took in that sandy universe filled me with the expansiveness of the ocean and the generosity of the sand…
and literally filled me and my hair and my shoes and my socks and hat and pockets and car with the beach…
here… are a few! of those photo thoughts disclosing this inverted world that stepped too closely to the water’s edge…

trapped in reflections
gaze of the ocean waving
looking back at me

some infinite time later… the sun set over the endless… and candid ocean mirror… … i can’t begin to fathom the distance to the other side… i can barely integrate that if i could see land across from where i stand it would be japan.. so i return my gaze to the rock formations near… to the sand supporting my feet… to the rolling waves curling around to look back onto themselves…
there is no escape from who is looking back at me either…

the pink curtain drops
as the night gives way to flaming bonfires
decorating the shore…

and the tide encroaches…
cleansing today’s meanderings.

while tomorrow’s light stories wait patiently in the wings…
